With several resident and troop camp properties across Minnesota and Wisconsin, girls can discover nature and wildlife, connect with others at camp, and take action as they build new skills and talents at camp.  Girl Scouts offers more than a hundred different camp program sessions ranging from wilderness tripping, canoeing, and horses to international cooking, drama, arts, and sports.  Any girl can come to camp – no Girl Scout experience is required.  Financial assistance is available.

Outdoor Extravaganza Troop Camp

Friday, June 12 - Sunday, June 14

Grades K - 12

7 p.m. - 10 a.m.

Camp Lakamaga

$60 girl; $60 adult

Enjoy a weekend of fun, learning, and relaxation with your troop at Camp Lakamaga. Camp staff will guide your troop through a variety of activities that you choose! Canoeing, swimming, kayaking, archery, crafts, nature, biking, songs, games, and more can be a part of your weekend. Saturday meals, Sunday breakfast, and snacks are provided. Adult chaperones need to attend with girls.

Saddle Up (Level 1)

June 14-19, June 21-26, June 28 - July 3, and July 5-10

Grades 4-6

Camp Whispering Hills

Girls:    a)$435    b)$390    c)$345

This Level 1 program is designed for girls who are new to horses and riding. Spend hands-on time with the horses where you will learn how to ride, groom, and care for the health of horses and ponies. Learn the basics about horses by practicing mounting, dismounting, controlling, and leading your horse at a walk. Depending on the group’s readiness, the finale is a trail ride.

6 Day Connections I

Camp Lakamaga

Choose one Connection Path to explore and choose additional traditional camp activities to discover to round out your program time. Explore a range of possibilities by choosing arts, boating, archery, team building, sports, drama, and many other choices and spend at least 6 - 8 hours with that activity throughout the week.

Camp Elk River

Connect with the activities you choose as you earn and receive two badges. Learn teamwork as your cabin chooses which traditional summer camp activities to discover in the free time. The best of both focused and traditional camp activities in this session.

Scuba I

July 5-10

Grades 6-9

Camp Singing Hills

Girls:    a)$435    b)$390    c)$345

This introductory experience will teach you general scuba skills and concepts such as regulator clearing, equalizing, gauge monitoring and breathing from an alternate air source.  Learn all your basics in a nearby pool. Upon successful completion of these skills take a 30-40 minute lake dive in Fish Lake.  You’ll also have time to do many of your traditional camp activities.

Iron Chef I

July 12-17

Grades 7-9

Camp Singing Hills

Are you ready to take on this challenge?  Let’s see you cook appetizers, soups, and salads.  Spend 10 hours this week learning basic cooking techniques both in the kitchen and over the fire.  You will work directly with the camp cook and your counselor to learn how to prepare healthy foods.

S’Mores and Horses (Level 1 and 2)

July 19-24, August 16-21, and August 23-28

Grades 4-7

Camp Northwoods

Girls:    a)$555    b)$510    c)$465

Designed for girls who are new to horses and riding or those girls with limited experience. Become proficient in safety around horses, tacking, mounting, dismounting, starting, stopping and basic reining. In this combination Level 1 and 2 program, girls may take a short trail ride depending on proficiency level reached. Junior girls will earn the Horse Fan Badge.

Lakamaga Adult Education Conference
FUN AND LEARNING FOR LIFE

Celebrate the upcoming Girl Scout year at the 2009 Lakamaga Adult Education Conference, Fun and Learning for Life. The conference will take place on Friday, August 14 - Sunday, August 16 at Camp Lakamaga. Join more than 300 adult volunteers for learning and inspiration to start another exciting year of Girl Scouting.

Dairy Queen and Girl Scouts of the USA have partnered again this summer to salute local Girl Scouts for their community involvement and leadership. View more information.

 

During the month of July, Girl Scouts and volunteers can enjoy the debut of the Girl Scouts Tagalongs Peanut Butter Patties Blizzard with a special coupon as they celebrate and promote Girl Scouting with the Dairy Queen Girl Scout Appreciation Week, July 20-26. In August, Dairy Queen will feature the return of the wildly popular Girl Scouts Thin Mint Blizzard.

 


Fall Launch 2010

2010 Fall Launch

 

Please choose your 2010 Fall Launch date/location and RSVP on River Valleys’ website at www.girlscoutsrv.org. Your RSVP will ensure that your dinner selection and printed materials will be available onsite. If you do not have Internet access, please RSVP by contacting 800-845-0787.

 

This free Launch event is open to all service team volunteers, but please note, break out sessions will be provided only for the following volunteer positions: service unit managers, organizers/recruiters, Fast Start coaches, program resource coordinators, and product program managers.

 


Robotics Day Camps

Level 1
Become an ace engineer by designing, building, and programming robots. Use sensors, gears, levers, and pulleys to create and operate a vehicle and a structure. Test your imagination and work in a team.  No experience is necessary. We will teach you everything you need to know. Bus transportation available; please indicate if you will be riding the bus and don’t forget to include the t-shirt size on the registration.

Level 2
You've been to Robotics Day Camp last summer.  Now build on that knowledge by becoming a Level 2 Engineer.  Team up with other experienced engineers to meet new design challenges.  Try out new sensors and expand your programming skills.  Join us for Level 2 Robotics and have twice the fun! Bus transportation available; please indicate if you will be riding the bus and don’t forget to include the t-shirt size on the registration.

River Valleys’ Council Chat

These chats are an opportunity for Girl Scout members and volunteers to have a two-way dialogue with the Board and Staff Leadership.
