On May 22nd, 2005, eight young women from the Girl Scout Council of Cannon Valley were recognized for earning
their Gold Award. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award in Girl Scouting. It symbolizes outstanding accomplishments
in the areas of leadership, community service, career planning and personal development. Once a girl has completed the required
prerequisites she submits a Gold Award project proposal.
A Gold Award project must exhibit leadership, benefit the community, and must take at least 50 hours. This year the recipients
are Shannon Barr, Waseca, Jessica Deck, Prior Lake, Megan McGrath, Lakeville, Lauren Haverly, Burnsville, Jennifer Monaghan,
Kenyon, Alicia Woods, Prior Lake, Katherine Kawalek, Lakeville and Jessica Carlson, Cannon Falls. A reception honoring these
young women was held at First English Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. |
