NVO Online Plus
New Volunteer Orientation (NVO) consists of two parts:
Part 1 is an overview of the Girl Scout program, and
Part 2 is an overview of the Girl Scout Council of
Cannon Valley, including how to access resources within the
council. Girl Scouts of the USA now offers "Basic
Orientation" via the Internet. This web-based training
meets the requirements for Part 1 of NVO. Part 2 is
delivered in person by volunteer Girl Scout trainers in your
area.
To complete Part 1 of NVO Online Plus:
- Contact the council service center at 800-344-4757 to
get the current password for first-time users. (You
will create your own password to use after your first visit
to the site.) You can also get the current password
from volunteer Girl Scout trainers in your area.
- Go to http://training.girlscouts.org
and select "Basic Orientation". You can
complete the whole thing in one sitting (most people take
about an hour) or do one section at a time over a number
of days. Just be sure to finish the online training
before going to the "live" training of Part 2.
- Complete the worksheet
as you go through the online training. You will
need to bring your completed worksheet with you to Part
2.
To complete Part 2 of NVO Online Plus:
- Check with your local Girl Scout service team or the council
to register for the session of NVO Online Plus
most convenient for you. You can also arrange to attend
the second hour of a "regular" NVO session.
- Bring these items with you to the 1-hour session:
- your completed Part 1
worksheet
- your troop packet
- your copy of Safety-Wise
- a pen or pencil
- your enthusiasm!!
