Questions about NVO Online Plus
What if I don't have Internet access?
Remember that an "all-live" version of NVO is offered
as a two-hour session; check with your local Girl Scout service
team to find out how to register. If you'd like to do the
online version of Part 1 of NVO but you don't have Internet
access, contact the council service center at 800-344-4757.
You can arrange to complete online training at the service
center or you can get the name of a volunteer trainer near
you who has offered to let other Girl Scout volunteers come
to her/his home to take the online training. (The trainers
are excited about this option and they are eager to help new
volunteers!)
Do I have to take both Part 1 and Part
2 of NVO Online Plus?
Parts 1 and 2 cover different topics: Part 1 covers essential
general information about the Girl Scout program; Part 2 covers
local council information and how to access local resources.
You have not completed your orientation until you have completed
both parts.
Are there any big downloads in this online
course?
The module includes a link for a free download of Shockwave.
If you choose not to download the program or have difficulty
downloading it that is not resolved by using the help resources,
you can still complete the module without Shockwave. A few
of the interactive exercises will not appear, but you will
not miss any essential content.
Can I get to the online module from the
Girl Scouts of the USA home page (www.girlscouts.org)?
Not at this time. You must go to http://training.girlscouts.org/ .
I'm a returning leader who already took
"all-live" NVO; can I still do the online module?
Certainly! And it will count as an hour toward a leaf to hang
on your Leadership Development pin. The online module can
serve as an ongoing reference for volunteers.
